Stock Photos of Allis Chalmers Tractors
A page of stock pictures of Allis Chalmers tractors. Allis-Chalmers built its first tractor in 1914 but they sold poorly until 1929 when Allis-Chalmers entered the United Tractor and Equipment Corporation merger. The corporation collapsed but as Allis-Chalmers had been contracted to produce their new tractor design they were able to stay in business and their famous Model U (for United) was born. It remained in production until 1953. At the same time A-C adopted their "Persian Orange" colour. 1932 saw A-C introduce pneumatic tyres for tractors. The company prospered through the 30s-50s, purchasing the Gleaner Harvester Corporation but hit hard times in the 1980s and was taken over by Deutz. In 1990 a holding firm known as the Allis-Gleaner Company (AGCO) bought the company and relaunched as AGCO Allis. Now known simply as AGCO the company now also manufactures and/or distributes Massey Ferguson, Valtra, Fendt and Challenger.
